Jean Méreu

Jean Méreu (* 1944 in Saint-Vallier (Saône-et-Loire) ) is a French trumpeter of imaginary folklore .

Méreu studied trumpet at the Lyon Conservatory and played in the Big Band of the Hot Club de Lyon . In 1968 he founded the Free Jazz Workshop with Jean Bolcato , Pierre Guyon and Maurice Merle . He also worked with Colette Magny , Beb Guérin and François Tusques , in whose Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra he played as well as in the Collectif du Temps des Cerises , where he also worked with Denis Levaillant and Steve Potts . In 1977 he was one of the founders of the Association à la Recherche d'un Folklore Imaginaire , to whose groups Marmite infernale , E'Guijecri , Dîtes 33 he belongs and whose cinema concerts he also appears internationally. He also played with Steve Lacy , Steve Beresford , Norbert Stein , Tony Hymas , Lucilla Galeazzi , François Raulin , Claude Tchamitchian , Noël Akchoté , Petras Vyšniauskas and the Priapmol Trio (with Jacques Siron and Christine Schaller). He also works for the theater and also performed music by Georges Aperghis .
