Beb Guérin

Bernard "Beb" Guérin (born December 22, 1941 in La Rochelle ; † November 14, 1980 ) was a French jazz bassist.

Live and act

Guérin initially worked as a graduate engineer. In 1964 he began to study double bass at the Versailles Conservatory. He then went on tour with Jimmy Gourley , Sonny Criss and Jacques Pelzer, before moving to Paris in 1966. He worked with François Tusques , Barney Wilen , Mal Waldron , Don Cherry , Joachim Kühn , Marion Brown , Sunny Murray , Alan Silva , Jacques Coursil , Arthur Jones , Clifford Thornton and Sonny Sharrock , but also with François Jeanneau and Bernard Vitet . With the bassists Jean-François Jenny-Clark , François Méchali , Léon Francioli and Barre Phillips, he formed duos and a trio. He played (until 1976) in the unit of Michel Portal , then in the Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra of François Tusques, the sextet of Jacques Thollot and in the Compagnie Lubat . He also accompanied the singers Colette Magny and Toto Bissainthe.
