Lucilla Galeazzi (born December 24, 1950 in Terni , Umbria ) is an Italian singer. In the 1970s and 80s she was one of the best-known voices of the Italian folk revival around Giovanna Marini . In 1987 she began her solo career, but produced many albums with other musicians.

Career

Lucilla Galeazzi began her career as a teenager in a pop group. It was decisively shaped by the meeting with the ethnomusicologists Valentino Paparelli and Alessandro Portelli in Valnerina; she had singing lessons with the soprano Michiko Hiroyama and the bass Gianni Socci . In 1977 she became a member of Giovanna Marini's vocal quartet, with whom she recorded four albums and also performed internationally. She appeared in Roberto de Simone's production of Stabat Mater in 1986 at the Naples Opera and then toured the United States.

In 1987 Galeazzi founded her first own trio Il Trillo with Ambrogio Sparagna and Carlo Rizzo , in which she interpreted oral folk songs in a contemporary way. In later productions she expanded her repertoire in the direction of baroque music and jazz. With the jazz musicians Michel Godard and Vincent Courtois , she founded the Trio Rouge ; In addition, she was part of Christina Pluhar's baroque ensemble L'Arpeggiata for several years . She is also a member of the Bella Ciao project , which reinterprets Italian workers and partisan songs. In 2019 she presented working songs by women on the album Alegria e Libertà with singers from Galicia and the Belgian ensemble Ialma . Galeazzi also recalled great historical themes: your production Il Fronte delle Donne commemorates the role of women in World War I. the production La Nave a Vapore is dedicated to the story of emigration from Italy.
