Christina Pluhar (* 1965 in Graz ) is an Austrian lutenist and harpist .

Life

Christina Pluhar recognized her passion for early music after studying at the University of Graz . From then on she devoted herself to playing the lute , the theorbo and the baroque guitar . She acquired her knowledge at the Conservatory in The Hague and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis . Her teachers included Toyohiko Satoh , Eugen M. Dombois , Hopkinson Smith , Paul O'Dette , Patrick O'Brien and Jesper Bøje Christensen . She learned to play the baroque arpa doppia (triple harp) at the “Scuola Civica di Milano” from Mara Galassi.

In 1992 she received first prize at the early music festival in Malmö as a member of the “La Fenice” ensemble. Since then she has lived in Paris close to the local baroque scene and works as a soloist and as a basso continuo player. With her ensemble "L'Arpeggiata", founded in 2000, she performs internationally and plays CDs.

In addition to her activities as an interpreter and ensemble leader, Christina Pluhar has been teaching the baroque harp at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague since 1999 and gives master classes at the University of Graz .
