Jeanne Balibar (born April 13, 1968 in Paris ) is a French actress and singer .

Life

Jeanne Balibar was born as the daughter of the philosopher Étienne Balibar and the physicist Françoise Balibar . After studying history at the École Normale Supérieure , she began her acting career with a role in Don Juan at the Avignon Festival . Her first film role was in Arnaud Desplechin's Die Wache ( La Sentinelle ) in 1992 .

2018 won the French Balibar Film Award César as Best Actress for her performance in Mathieu Amalric's movie Barbara . In it she can be seen as an actress preparing for her role in a film about the singer Barbara . Balibar was nominated four more times for the César: in 1997 and 1998 for Best Young Actress for Ich und Meine Liebe and J'ai horreur de l'amour and in 2001 and 2009 for Best Supporting Actress for Ça ira mieux demain and Bonjour Sagan .

She has two children with Mathieu Amalric. The couple separated in 2000. She now lives with the writer Pierre Alféri , who has also written some texts for her.

In 2008 Balibar was appointed to the competition jury of the 61st Cannes Film Festival .
