Jeffrey Robert Immelt (born February 19, 1956 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American business manager and was the CEO of General Electric from September 7, 2001 to August 1, 2017 . He remained there until the end of 2017 as Chairman of the Board .

Life

1978 joined Immelt, the Dartmouth College with a Bachelor in Applied Mathematics , where he president of the fraternity " Phi Delta Alpha was". In 1982 he received his MBA from Harvard Business School . Immelt is married and has one daughter.

Career

Immelt came to General Electric in 1982 and initially worked in corporate marketing . In the course of his career he worked in product management for “ GE Plastics ” (now “ Saudi Basic Industries Corporation ”). In 1989 he moved to GE Appliances . From 1997 to 2000 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of the medical division " GE Medical Systems " (now GE Healthcare ). In 2000 he was elected to succeed Jack Welch by the General Electric Board of Directors .
