Jeffrey Sarpong (born August 3, 1988 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player with Ghanaian roots.

Career

society

Sarpong played for FC Abcoude before joining the youth division of Ajax Amsterdam in 1996 . For the 2005/06 season the young player was appointed to the club's professional squad. He finally made his debut on January 5, 2006 in a 3-2 away win over Feyenoord Rotterdam . During the season he came to eight other missions. At the end of his first professional season, he celebrated his first national success by winning the KNVB Cup . The following year things went less well for the winger and he did not make it to any league use under coach Henk ten Cate . Only since Marco van Basten has been the new coach for the Amsterdam team, Sarpong has returned to regular appearances in Ajax dress. On September 21, 2008 he scored his first competitive goal against Feyenoord.

The 2016/17 season he played for the Greek club Veria FC and then moved to the Turkish second division side Elazığspor . In summer 2018 he returned to Greece with his move to Skoda Xanthi .

National team

Sarpong played for the U-17 team of the KNVB during the U-17 World Cup in Peru in 2005 . In all six games of his team he was used and led the team to the semi-finals, where they lost 4-0 against the Mexican selection. With a 2-1 win against Turkey, the team secured third place. Sarpong scored two hits during the tournament. A year later he played with the Dutch U-20s at the tournament in Toulon , where they reached the final, but had to admit defeat to hosts France 3: 5 after a penalty. Sarpong was his team's first shooter and transformed. In 2009 he was reappointed to the U-21 squad for the Toulon tournament.
