Jelena Igorewna Bunina ( Russian Елена Игоревна Бунина ; born May 12, 1976 in Moscow ) is a Russian mathematician , manager and university teacher .

Life

Bunina, daughter of political scientist Igor Mikhailovich Bunin , graduated from the mathematics class of Moscow School No. 57, where she later taught calculus . In 1993 she began studying at the Mechanics- Mathematics Faculty (MechMat) at Lomonossow University Moscow (MGU). She also studied mathematics at the Mathematics College of the Independent University of Moscow (NMU). After graduating from MGU and NMU in 1998, she became an aspirant at the Chair of Higher Algebra at the MGU MechMat under Alexander Vasilyevich Michalev . In 2001 she successfully defended her dissertation on the elementary equivalence of linear and algebraic groups for the doctorate as a candidate in physical- mathematical sciences.

2001 Bunina began in the MechMat the MGU programming to teach. Since 2005 she has been teaching algebra there at the Chair for Higher Algebra. In addition, she heads the Chair of Data Analysis at the School of Applied Mathematics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MFTI) . Her research areas are the elementary properties of algebraic structures and other problems of algebra as well as mathematical logic .

After the Yandex founders Arkadi Jurjewitsch Wolosch and Ilja Walentinowitsch Segalowitsch had tried in vain to set up a professorship at a vocational training center that specialized in their training needs in view of their personnel problems, Wolosch invited Bunina to a project of its own school for data analysis (SchAD) within Yandex one. In the first year, instead of the planned 30 people, 80 students entered the school, 36 of whom completed their studies there. From 2007 to 2017 there were more than 600 graduates. Bunina stayed with Yandex and headed the Computer Science Department at SchAD.

In 2010 Bunina successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on automorphism and elementary equivalence of Chevalley groups and other derived structures for her doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences.

On January 1, 2011, Bunina became the HR director of Yandex. On December 1, 2017, Bunina became general director of the Russian Yandex company, succeeding Alexander Alexandrovich Schulgin. Bunina is a member of the supervisory board of Zifrowaya Ekonomika and the Moscow Research University and School of Economics (NIU WSchE), as well as a member of the Expert Council of the All-Russian Education Center Sirius for Gifted Children in Sochi .

Bunina is married and has four children.
