The Yemeni Air Force ( Al Quwwat al Jawwiya al Jamahiriya al Yemeniya ) (including Air Defense) is part of the Yemeni Army . They have a strength of about 5,000 soldiers and are divided into a squadron with MiG-21, a squadron with MiG-21 and MiG-29, a squadron Su-22 and F-5E, a helicopter squadron with Mi-24 and Mi-8 , a helicopter squadron with Mi-8, a training squadron with L-39C and a transport squadron.

Air defense
Air defense uses the S-75 , S-125 Neva , 2K12 Kub , 9K32 Strela-2 , 9K31 Strela-1 , 9K35 Strela-10 and 9K34 Strela-3 weapon systems .
Locations
The air force is mainly based in Sanaa, but also frequently operates from Hudaydah and Taiz.
