Jena Dover

Jena Dover (born June 22, 1983 in Johannesburg ) is a South African actress . She also works as a model .

Life

Career

Jena Dover's career in South Africa's entertainment industry began at the age of five when she was discovered by a photographer for commercials in a local mall because of her red curly hair . In the following years she made numerous advertising shoots through an agent (including for Cadbury's ) and worked for the station KT.V. in children's programs on South African television, which made her famous among television audiences. She later worked (until 2011) as a presenter for the KT.V. network.

She completed her acting training at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City , where she also acted in theater. Since her return to South Africa Dover starred in several film and TV productions, including Number 10 (2006) and that of the film critics acclaimed South African movie Jozi (2010), for which it in 2010 along with the rest of the cast in the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) in the category “Best Ensemble Film ” ( Best Ensemble Cast ). Jena Dover also starred in the thriller Safe House (2012) with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds .

In the German TV film Das Nanny: Mission South Africa , which premiered on Das Erste in December 2018 , Dover played one of the main roles alongside Saskia Vester and Filip Peeters , as daughter Johanna, who has a difficult relationship with her father .

In addition to her work as an actress, Dover has worked as a model in several advertising campaigns. In 2008 she was the “face” for Pantene hair products in South Africa and represented the Studio W line from Woolworth as a brand ambassador for five years .

academic career

Dover attended Crawford College in Killarney , Johannesburg from 1998 to 2001 . In 2006, at the age of 23, Dover began studying law at the University of the Witwatersrand in parallel to her work as an actress and model , which she completed in 2009 with a Bachelor of Law (LLB). She also gained further qualifications in the areas of corporate law and financial management . From 2010 to 2014, she worked as a lawyer and partner for Webber Wentzel , one of the largest law firms in South Africa. She was u. a. involved in the negotiations for the takeover of the South African retail group Massmart by the Walmart group. From 2016, Dover also studied French language and French literature at the University of the Witwatersrand and at L'institut Français in Johannesburg.

Private

Dover has been engaged to an Angola- born diplomat serving on duty for the Seychelles since 2015 . The couple met at dinner in Cape Town in November 2014 . She is regularly active on social media and has an Instagram and a Twitter account.
