The Jens Albrecht III is a passenger ship stationed in Harlesiel . The ship belongs to the shipping company Norden-Frisia and operates for the shipping and island railway Wangerooge of the island community of Wangerooge, which belongs to DB AutoZug . It is used for day trips to the North Sea island of Wangerooge, for trips to the seal banks and for show fishing.
The ship was built in 1935 for the Baltrum Line shipping company on the island of Baltrum as Baltrum II and operated as Spiekeroog II from 1958 to 1985 for island shipping on the island of Spiekeroog . Since 1985 it has been called Jens Albrecht III .
The ship was sold in 2008 by the shipping company Albrecht from Carolinensiel to the shipping company Reederei Norden-Frisia Norderney, but was never put into service by the new owner himself. He chartered the ship to the Wangerooge branch of DB AutoZug GmbH. This subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG is the last Deutsche Bahn agency that still operates ships.
