Jens Böttcher (born August 2, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German singer-songwriter , musician , writer and author .

biography

After dropping out of school shortly before graduating from high school, he began his career as a cable manager for the Hamburg- based English advertising film production company Garrett Film. During his community service and some tours with his own rock bands, he worked as a freelance unit manager in the Hamburg advertising film scene, as a line producer , production manager and assistant director with Peter Lindbergh , Quentin Masters and Peter Timm , among others , before finally shooting various music clips as a director . This was followed by the self-written short film Ostlich von Kautschuk (1997), in which he played a leading role with Henning Stegelmann . During this time he was also the spokesperson for several productions, wrote and translated skits, theater and film manuscripts.

In the mid-1990s, Jens Böttcher and his brother Sven Böttcher wrote two seasons of the series ran fun for Sat.1 and from 1995 to 2002 the Funny Dubbings , both from the Bundesliga program ran , and again since 2009 for the Champions League .

Various comedy and TV formats such as the Comedy Club, Nonstop Comedy ( NDR ), Zoop ( ProSieben ) and the complete series Der kleine Gnom followed. For Sesame Street , Böttcher wrote two musicals with Gerd-Ekken Gerdes .

In addition, Böttcher wrote various radio comedy productions such as Witzenotdienst as well as Elvis lives and the reporter satirical Werner Kerner ( WDR 4 ) - he spoke the title characters for both -, Liebeskinder and Reverend Eminent for WDR , 1LIVE , hr XXL , You FM and N-Joy , in which he also participated. Radiocomedy Deichstraße 3 N-Joy followed in 2009 .

In 2001 Jens Böttcher converted to Christianity, which subsequently influenced his music and works. A year later he founded the Gospelfolk formation rosenbrock + böttcher with Mark Rosenbrock , who had also converted to Christianity . Both had previously played in the alternative band Böttcher , which has since been put on hold. After two years and two albums ( rosenbrock + böttcher (2002) and Parousia (2004)) the duo broke up. A major reason for this was that Böttcher did not want to be associated with fundamentalist currents within Christianity.

In 2005 Jens Böttcher released the solo album Himmelherz . Travel bug followed in 2007 . It was released by the Berlin record company Stone Records . Henry Sperling and Karsten Deutschmann produced both albums in the Gentle Art Studio ; As an orchestra of Heavenly Peace , they usually accompany him in live performances. In the same year, Böttcher's first literary work, Steiner, appeared - or: the strange journey through life of a possibly justly crazy mind on the way to an unknown goal, the achievement of which is not negligible .

In 2009 Böttcher's short story book “The Day of the Butterfly” was published, in 2010 the album “Viva Dolorosa”, in 2011 the play “Interview with the Devil”, followed by the albums “IV: Revolution” (2013), “V: Immortal” ( 2016) "VI: To have or to be" (2020, inspired by the book by Erich Fromm), the novel "Herr Sturm und die Farbe des Windes" (2016) and the story "The day on which God no longer wanted to be called God "(2019).

As part of the team of authors and producers "schwarzweissradio" (together with Henry Sperling and Karsten Deutschmann), Böttcher recently made a name for himself again as a comedy writer. The miniseries “Neulich im Bundestag” is part of the weekly TV satirical magazine “ Extra 3 ” (NDR). Böttcher, Sperling and Deutschmann write and produce the series and speak all roles in it themselves.

Böttcher has been the host and presenter of the TV series "Tiefsehtauchen", also produced by Schwarzweissradio , since October 2014 . In it he speaks to guests from the fields of music, literature and art about "God and the world". “Tiefsehtauchen” is broadcast on Bibel TV and on the Tiefsehtauchen channel on YouTube.

As a musician and author, Böttcher is regularly on tour.
