Jens Nemeyer

Jens Nemeyer is a German Navy officer with the rank of Flotilla Admiral and Head of Department III (Personnel Management Officers) in the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr in Cologne .

Military career

Training and first uses

Nemeyer joined the armed forces as a basic military service and completed his training as a naval officer with Crew  VII / 84. From 1987 to 1988 he trained as a helicopter pilot with the Royal Navy . After the basic aeronautical training, he received further training on the Westland Sea King Mk.4 on the RNAS Yeovilton . He was then transferred to the 1st Squadron of Marine Aviation Squadron 5 in Kiel-Holtenau . From 1990 to 1992 he served as an exchange officer in Naval Aviation Squadrons 819 and 706 of the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. He was then employed as a flight instructor and deputy squadron chief in the training squadron of the Naval Aviation Squadron 5. From 1994 to 1996 Nemeyer served as an officer on watch at the NATO headquarters COMNAVSOUTH in Naples , Italy . During this time he also served in Operation Sharp Guard for three months .

Service as a staff officer

From 1996 to 1998 Nemeyer completed the 38th admiralty staff course at the command and control academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . After training as an officer in the general staff service , he took command of the 1st squadron of Naval Aviation Squadron 5. From 2000 to 2003, Nemeyer was employed as a personnel leader for naval aviators in the personnel office of the Bundeswehr in Cologne . In 2003 Nemeyer became commodore of the Marine Aviation Squadron 5. From 2005 to 2007 he worked as a deputy head of department in the personnel department of the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . In 2007 he became Allied Maritime Command in Northwood ( UK offset), where he served as Head of Unit for military cooperation, accession and integration was responsible. In 2009 he was employed as head of the personnel department in the fleet command in Glücksburg . In this post he was promoted to sea captain. From November 2011 to March 2012 he served as Chief of Staff on board the EU flagship NAVFOR Somalia . After his return, Nemeyer became Chief of Staff of Operation Flotilla 1 in Kiel . From 2012 to 2014 he was employed as Deputy Chief of Staff J3 / 5/7 in the Bundeswehr Operations Command in Schwielowsee , where he was responsible for deployment planning and deployment analysis. He also headed the non-permanent staff for military evacuation operations. From July 2014 to June 2016, Nemeyer was Head of Division in the Personnel Department at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin .

Service as an admiral

In June 2016, Nemeyer was promoted to Flotilla Admiral as Deputy Chief of Staff Operations at NATO's Allied Maritime Command in Northwood. In August 2019, Nemeyer succeeded Brigadier General Heinrich Tiller as Head of Department III (personnel management officers) at the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr in Cologne.

Private

Nemeyer is married and has two children.
