Career

Brooksby played a few matches on the ITF Junior Tour. He had his only appearance at a Grand Slam tournament - equipped with a wildcard - at the US Open in 2018 , where he was surprisingly only eliminated in the semi-finals. During this time he occasionally played professional tournaments.

He also made his first appearance at a higher level in 2018 when he made his debut in a professional Grand Slam tournament. In 2019 he played only a few tournaments again, but won three tournaments on the ITF Future Tour and only lost a set twice. In Sarasota he also won two matches on the ATP Challenger Tour for the first time to reach the round of 16. In August he was in the top 400 of the world rankings for the first time . To qualify for the US Open , Brooksby received a wild card that he could use. He won all three matches and met in the main draw on Tomas Berdych , whom he defeated in four sets. After winning the first set, he was finally defeated by the Georgian Nikolos Bassilashvili in four sets. In the world rankings, he rose to a new career high of 272.
