Jeremy Ausmus (born September 22, 1979 in Lamar , Colorado ) is a professional American poker player . He is nicknamed The Taker .

Personal

Ausmus comes from Lamar , Colorado . He received his bachelor's degree from Colorado State University at Fort Collins . Ausmus lives in Las Vegas with his wife Adria and their two children .

Poker career

Ausmus plays online under the nickname TheTaker . Since 2008 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

In May 2010 , Ausmus was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and placed 206th in a tournament with a buy-in of US $ 1,000 for a cash prize of just under $ 3,000. In early March 2011, he finished third in the main event of the Big Event in Los Angeles for $ 190,000. At the WSOP 2012 he ended up eight times in the money by the beginning of July and then played the main event . There he reached the final table with the smallest chip stack , which was played as part of the October Nine at the end of October 2012. Ausmus took fifth place for more than two million dollars in prize money. At the World Series of Poker Europe 2013 , which was held in Enghien-les-Bains , France , he won a WSOP tournament for the first time in mid-October 2013 and with it a bracelet and more than 70,000 euros in prize money. He reached heads-up at a six-handed event at the 2014 WSOP in June 2014 , but had to admit defeat to Joe Cada and finished the tournament in second place, earning him more than $ 400,000 in prize money. In mid-August 2018, Ausmus finished second at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship in Hollywood and received around $ 540,000 in prize money. At the 2019 WSOP , he finished fourth in the Pot Limit Omaha Championship for around $ 325,000. At the beginning of July 2019, Ausmus took second place at the main event of partypoker Live Millions Vegas at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and received prize money of $ 650,000.

Overall, Ausmus has made more than eight million dollars in poker in live tournaments.
