Jerry Doyle (born July 16, 1956 in Brooklyn , New York - † July 27, 2016 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American actor , radio host and politician, who was best known for his role as Michael Garibaldi in the science fiction series Babylon 5 became known.

After a successful career as a pilot and investment banker , he decided to become an actor in 1991.

He was married to actress Andrea Thompson from 1995 to 1997 , who played the telepath Talia Winters in the first two seasons of Babylon 5 .

In 2000, Doyle ran as an independent Conservative on a ticket to the Republican Party in the US Congressional elections, but was defeated in his constituency, the 24th Congressional constituency of California , the Democrat Brad Sherman . Sherman got 66 percent of the vote, Doyle 29.8 percent.

As of 2004, Jerry Doyle had his own radio show, The Jerry Doyle Show . He died in July 2016 at the age of 60. According to a press release released by Clark County Coroner in early September 2016 , Doyle died of "natural causes with complications from chronic alcoholism ."
