Jerzy Gabryś (born August 7, 1981 in Oświęcim ) is a Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Aksam Unia Oświęcim in the Ekstraliga since 2010 .

Career

Club

Jerzy Gabryś began his career in the youth academy of the Polish ice hockey association Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego in the second class I league . As a 19-year-old he went to the Polish Baltic coast for two seasons to the then Ekstraligist Stoczniowiec Gdańsk . In 2002 he moved to Unia Oświęcim in his hometown of Lesser Poland. With the team from Auschwitz he was Polish champion in 2003 and 2004 and also cup winner in 2003 . After five years in his hometown, he moved to Zagłębie Sosnowiec in 2007 , but left the Silesians after a year and moved to Naprzód Janów in Katowice , where he only stayed for a year. After another year in Sosnowiec Gabryś returned to Aksam Unia Oświęcim, where he has been under contract ever since.

International

For Poland, Gabryś took part in the junior division of the B-World Cup for U18 Juniors in 2000 and - after the changeover of the World Cup system - Division I of the U20 Junior World Championship in 2001 .

He made his debut in the men's national team in November 2004 in the first round of Olympic qualification for the 2006 Games in Turin , when the Poles were able to prevail at the home tournament in Nowy Targ and qualify for the second stage. Gabrys was also on the ice at the second round tournament in Riga in February 2005 , but failed with his team after three narrow defeats in fourth. Even so, he was nominated for the Division I games of the World Cup that same year. The Polish team missed promotion to the top division as second in the group only through a narrow 3-2 defeat against Norway . It then took seven years for Gabryś to be on the ice again for his colors at the Division I tournament of the 2012 World Cup . He then played for Poland in November 2012 in the Olympic qualification for the 2014 Games in Sochi and also in Division I of the 2013 World Cup .
