Jerzy Andrzej Zieliński (born February 4, 1957 in Dzierżoniów ) is a Polish politician and has been active in various local political positions in Lower Silesia since 1990 .

Live and act

Jerzy Zieliński studied Polish Philology at the University of Wroclaw . He then worked in Parowa for eight years, first as a teacher and later as headmaster . In 1988 he moved with his family to Lubań , where he worked for Solidarność . Later he also studied law at the University of Wroclaw.

From 1990 to 1998, Zieliński was a member of the Lubań City Council and the Sejmik of the Zielona Góra Voivodeship for two terms . From February 1993 to November 1998 he was also mayor of Lubań. After the reform of the local government in 1998, Zieliński took on two new positions: he was elected to the Sejmik of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and worked in the Starostei of the Powiat Lubański . From 2006 he worked for the municipal administration of Bolesławiec before he was re-elected to the Sejmik of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in 2008.

In the parliamentary elections in 2011 , he stood as a candidate for a mandate in the Senate of the Republic of Poland in constituency No. 1 for the electoral committee KWW Rafał Dutkiewicz . With 20,474 (21.63%) of the valid votes cast, he was defeated by the Platforma Obywatelska candidate Jan Michalski (33,641 votes, 35.55%).

In 2001 Zieliński was awarded the bronze and in 2005 the silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland .

Jerzy Zieliński is married and has two children.
