Zielona Góra Voivodeship
The Zielona Góra Voivodeship (Polish województwo Zielonogórskie ) was a Polish voivodeship that existed from 1950 to 1975 and in a modified form from 1975 to 1998. Its capital was Zielona Góra (Grünberg) .
During the territorial reform carried out in Poland on June 1, 1975 , the powiats ( districts ) were abolished and the existing 17 voivodships were replaced by 49 smaller voivodships. The new Zielona Góra Voivodeship mainly occupied the southern part of the old Zielona Góra Voivodeship.
In a new territorial reform on January 1, 1999, the counties were reintroduced and the number of voivodships reduced to 16. The Zielona Góra Voivodeship was largely absorbed into the newly formed Lubusz Voivodeship , which roughly corresponds to the old Zielona Góra Voivodeship.
