Jesús is the capital of the Peruvian province of Lauricocha in the Huánuco region . The 2017 census counted 1489 inhabitants. 10 years earlier the population was 1566.
location
The place is located on the Río Lauricocha at an altitude of 3486 meters. It can be reached either from the Panamericana north from Lima via La Union , Huánuco Pampa , Rondos and Jivia or via the national road from La Oroya , Huánuco , Huancapayac , Yarumayo and Margos . The Cordillera Huayhuash is about 50 km to the southwest.

The city has a hotel and an agency of the Banco de la Nación.
