Jesper Samuelsson (born June 13, 1988 in Norrköping ) is a Swedish ice hockey striker who has been under contract with HC Vita Hästen in Division 1 since 2010 .

Career

Jesper Samuelsson began his career with the juniors from HC Vita Hästen . During the 2004/05 season he first came as a 16-year-old to the senior team from the third division Division 1 and was part of their regular formation from the following season. He had a good first season with 19 points in 36 games and finished third with the team.

In 2006/07 he finally had his final breakthrough and he increased to 15 goals and 29 assists, making him the second best scorer of his team and leading all the young professionals in Division 1D. He achieved a further increase in the following season, when he was top scorer of Division 1 D with 46 points from 26 games and thus led Vita Hästen to first place in the division, whereupon the team moved into the promotion intermediate round, but there with the fourth Rank missed qualification for the playoffs .

After Samuelsson was already available for two NHL Entry Drafts , he was finally selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the seventh round with the 211th and thus the last right to vote by the Detroit Red Wings . But he was also noticed in his home country and so Timrå IK signed him from the top Swedish league, the Elitserien , where he played until 2010. For the 2010/11 season he returned to HC Vita Hästen from Division 1.

Jesper Samuelsson has a good instinct for the game and can put teammates in the limelight with his assists, but still has to prove his skills in a high-class league. He also has to work on his physique to survive against bigger players.
