Yevgeny Vladimirovich Masunin ( Kazakh Евгений Владимирович Мазунин ; born September 18, 1981 in Ust-Kamenogorsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh ice hockey player who has been playing again at HK Almaty in the Kazakh championship since 2017 .

Career

Yevgeny Masunin began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior division of Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk , for whose men's teams he played in the second and third Russian leagues since 1998. From the 2003/04 season he played with the team from Öskemen in the Kazakh championship , which was won in 2004, 2005 and 2007. He also won the Kazakh Cup competition with his club in 2004 and 2007 . After playing for Yermak Angarsk in the Vysschaya League from 2008 to 2010 , he returned to his hometown for a year. He then moved to the Kazakh capital, where he was on the ice for HK Astana until 2013 . After stints at HK Arlan Kökschetau and HK Almaty , he played for HK Ertis Pawlodar from the beginning of 2015 to 2017 , with whom he was again Kazakh national champion in 2015. Since 2017 he has been under contract with HK Almaty again.

International

In the junior division Masunin played for Kazakhstan at the U18-D-European championship 1998 and the U18-world championship 1999 in the Europe-Division I as well as at the U20-A-world championships 2000 and 2001 .

For the Kazakh national ice hockey team he took part in the world championships of the top division in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 as well as in division I in 2007 and 2009 . He was also in his country's squad to qualify for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . At the Winter Asian Games 2007 he won the title with the Kazakhs with a 4-1 win in the decisive game against Japan .
