Jiří Koubský (born August 5, 1982 in Kyjov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech football player .
Club career
Koubský played in his youth for Jiskra Kyjov and Slovácká Slavia Uherské Hradiště . In 1996, the 195 cm tall defender was committed by Svit Zlín , for whom he made his debut in the professional team in the 2002/03 season and secured a regular place. In 2003/04 he made 28 league games and scored two goals.
Koubský fell on the responsible of Sparta Prague and was signed on loan. At Sparta, however, he could not prevail and came to only two games in the first half of the 2004/05 season. In early 2005, the central defender , who can also be used in defensive midfield, returned to Zlín .
In the summer of 2005, Koubský moved to FC St. Gallen , for whom he played 31 games in his first season, in which he scored five goals. After five years in St. Gallen , Koubský returned to the Czech Republic and joined Slavia Prague . In July 2011, the Moravian player moved to the nearby Slovak club FC Spartak Trnava , where he got an annual contract with an option.
In 2013 the player signed a contract with FC Aarau , which is valid until June 30, 2014.
National team
Koubský played for the Czech U16, U17 , U18 and U20 teams . In July 2001, Koubský took part with the Czech U-18 selection at the U-18 European Football Championship 2001 in Finland, in which the Czech Republic reached the final against Poland thanks to two goals from Koubský, which however was lost 3-1 .
Between 2002 and 2003, the tall defender was used 16 times for the Czech U-21 national team and scored four times in the opposing goal.
