Jimmy Cheatham
Jimmy Cheatham (* 18th June 1924 in Birmingham , Alabama; † 12. January 2007 in San Diego ) was an American jazz - trombone .
Live and act
After his youth in Buffalo he studied at the Institute of Modern Music in New York. His musical foster father was Jo Jones . During World War II he played in a military combo, where he met Lester Young and Chico Hamilton . He later worked with Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton . Together with his wife Jeannie Cheatham he played in the Sweet Baby Blues Band . Since 1984 a number of albums by their rhythm and blues influenced Jump Band have been recorded on the Concord label , on which guest musicians such as Jimmy Noone , Snooky Young , Charles McPherson , Eddie Lockjaw Davis , Red Callender , Eddie Cleanhead Vinson , Frank Wess , Hank Crawford , Plas Johnson and others participated until 1995
Cheatham died of heart failure.
