Jindřich Maudr

Jindřich Maudr (born January 10, 1906 in Prague ; †  May 1, 1990 ) was a Czechoslovakian wrestler . He won a Greco-Roman style silver medal in bantamweight at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam .

Career

Jindřich Maudr started wrestling as a teenager in Prague . He also became a member of the sports club TJ Bohemians Prague . He concentrated entirely on the Greco-Roman style, in which, in contrast to the free style, handles are only allowed upwards. Leg handles are also permitted in free style.

The first major international championship in which Jindřich Maudr was there was the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam . He started there in bantamweight and came there u. a. to victories over Giovanni Gozzi from Italy and Oscar Lindeloef from Sweden . In the final battle he faced the German Kurt Leucht from Nuremberg , to whom he was defeated. He won the silver medal with it .

In 1930 he started at the European Championships in Stockholm two weight classes higher, in the lightweight. He won there over Aage Meier from Denmark , but lost against the two best lightweight wrestlers of those years in the world Eduard Sperling from Dortmund and Erik Malmberg from Sweden and came in 6th place.

For the European Championships in 1931, which took place in Prague, Jindřich Maudr had trained in the featherweight division. He defeated in Prague a. a. the Hungarians Ödön Zombori , but lost to Kustaa Pihlajamäki from Finland , an exceptional wrestler at that time, and came in 3rd place.

In 1932 Jindřich Maudr was also sent to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In featherweight he came there to victories over Oscar Lindeloef and Kiyoshi Kase from Japan . He lost to Wolfgang Ehrl from Germany and Lauri Koskela from Finland and achieved a very good 4th place.

After the Olympic Games in 1932, Jindřich Maudr was no longer at the start of any other international championships.
