The Jiu Jitsu Association Austria ( JJVÖ ) is the professional association for self-defense , Jiu Jitsu , Goshindo , Kobudō and related martial arts . It serves as the umbrella organization and national representation of individual regional associations, at the international level it belongs to the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and the Ju-Jitsu European Union (JJEU).

Structure of the association

8 regional associations are subordinate to the federal association, as the regional associations for Carinthia and Tyrol are combined. The regional associations are in turn the umbrella for the respective local associations.

history

The JJVÖ was founded as an association in its current form in 1964.

In 1981, Jiu Jitsu was recognized as a separate sport in Austria. Jiu Jitsu becomes a separate section in the Austrian Judo Association in order to be able to organize national, state and international championships.

In 1995 several associations split off from the JJVÖ and founded the Austrian Jiu Jitsu Association (ÖJJB) .

In 1998, several associations split off from the JJVÖ and founded the World Kobudo Federation Austria (WKF-A) .

In the course of the efforts to join before 2007, the Goshindo Jiu-Jitsu Association Austria (GJJVÖ) , the ÖJJB and the World Kobudo Federation (WKF-A) were integrated into the JJVÖ in different ways : GJJVÖ and ÖJJB clubs were accepted into the JJVÖ , while the WKF-A could not decide to join. In addition, GJJVÖ associations form an autonomous section for Goshindo in the JJVÖ .

JJVÖ and WKF-A signed a contract in September 2006, in which the membership of the WKF-A was fixed as an autonomous section in the JJVÖ . The member associations of the WKF-A were given the option to become members directly in the JJVÖ .

On January 19, 2008, the ÖJJB was dissolved.

On October 31, 2009, the World Kobudo Federation Austria (WKF-A) was spun off as an autonomous section from the JJVÖ.
