João Batista Corrêa Néri (born October 6, 1863 in Campinas , Brazil , † February 1, 1920 ) was Bishop of Campinas .

Life

João Batista Corrêa Néri was ordained a deacon on February 21, 1886 . He received on 10 April 1886, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 29, 1896, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . the first bishop of Espírito Santo . The Internuntius in Brazil, Girolamo Maria Cardinal Gotti OCD , donated him episcopal ordination on November 1st of the same year ; Co-consecrator was the secretary of the Holy Congregation of the Holy Apostolic Visits, Curia Archbishop Antonio Maria Grasselli, OFMConv .

Leo XIII. appointed him on May 18, 1901 as the first bishop of Pouso Alegre . On August 3, 1908, Pope Pius X appointed him the first bishop of Campinas.
