Joachim Arnold (politician)

Joachim Arnold (born June 14, 1959 in Wölfersheim ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was district administrator of the Wetterau district from 2008 to 2017 .

Life

education and profession

Arnold attended Singberg School in Wölfersheim and then the Augustinian School in Friedberg , where he graduated from high school . He then studied at the Technical University of Darmstadt and graduated with a degree in engineering. He also passed the second technical state examination as an assessor in surveying and property management at the Frankfurt Main Examination Office and attended the Freiburg Business Academy, which he left as a certified business promoter.

Arnold worked at the Hanau Office for Agriculture and Rural Development as a department head for rural development measures. Then he was head of land management at the Hessian State Office for Regional Development and Agriculture in Wiesbaden .

Arnold is married and has two children.

Political career

He has been a member of the executive committee of the Wölfersheim SPD since 1985. From 1989 to 1992 he was an alderman on the municipal council of Wölfersheim. In 1993 he was the first alderman of the community. Afterwards he held the office of mayor of Wölfersheim from 1994 to June 2008 . Arnold resigned from this office because he was elected on February 10, 2008 in a runoff election to the district administrator of the Wetterau district. He took office on July 1, 2008. On January 19, 2014, he was re-elected. From 2006 until his election as district administrator, he was a member of the district assembly of the Wetterau district. At the end of December 2017, he resigned from his position as district administrator of the Wetterau district in order to succeed Rolf Gnadl in the management of Oberhessische Vertriebsbetriebe AG (OVAG) on January 1, 2018 . Jan Weckler was elected as his successor in the office of district administrator in March 2018 .
