Joachim Back
Joachim Back (* 1972 in Denmark ) is a Danish director .
Life
Back began his film career as a set runner in Danish productions and later took on tasks as an assistant in the lighting, editing and camera departments. Since he always wanted to be a director, he first made small films with friends.
In 1997 he signed with Copenhagen's Easy Film and shot a variety of commercials for z. B. Pepsi , VISA , VW or Nescafé . For the commercial The Mouth , which he produced for MTV , he was shortlisted for a Golden Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival in 2000 . In 2001, he and two colleagues founded the Bacon company , which specialized in making commercials.
In 2004 he moved to the US and signed a contract with Park Pictures . In 2005 he won a Golden Lion in Cannes with a commercial for Viagra . With more than 15 awards, this advertising film is one of the most successful in advertising history. Other awards include a Bronze Lion for Too Late and an award for Best Sound Design at the AICP Show 2007 for a Captain Morgan campaign. He received another Cannes nomination in 2008 for a Bud Light spot. Two Epica Awards followed in 2009 : Gold for an IKEA and silver for a Volvo advertisement.
For his first short film The New Tenants , Back won an Oscar in the Best Short Film category at the 2010 Academy Awards, together with producer Tivi Magnusson .
Back lives in New York with his wife and two children .
