Joachim Borsdorff

Joachim Borsdorff (born July 30, 1919 in Schnellroda ; † March 20, 1985 in Darmstadt ) was a German local politician ( SPD ) and mayor .

Life

Joachim Borsdorff attended the Dom gymnasium in Merseburg and graduated from high school in 1938 . He then completed the labor service year with the Reich Labor Service, which was mandatory at the time . In 1939 Borsdorff began studying economics and law at the University of Leipzig . In the same year he had to break off his studies and was drafted into military service. In 1942 he was discharged from military service because of a serious wound; then he continued his studies at the University of Halle . He finished his studies with a state examination with a degree in economics . Subsequently, Borsdorff received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole.

From May 1944 to the end of 1945 he was a research assistant at the University of Halle. From 1946 to 1950 he worked as a statistician at the State Statistical Office of Saxony in the GDR . In 1950 Borsdorff fled to West Germany . From 1950 to 1951 he worked for the Statistical Office of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . From 1951 to 1954 he was employed by the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden . From October 1, 1954, Borsdorff headed the statistical and election office of the city of Darmstadt . In addition, he headed the local press, advertising and traffic office. From December 18, 1956 to August 31, 1970 he was city ​​treasurer of Darmstadt.

From December 1, 1967 to August 31, 1970, Borsdorff was mayor in Darmstadt under Lord Mayor Ludwig Engel . On September 1, 1970, he was appointed CEO of HEAG . Borsdorff died on March 20, 1985 in Darmstadt.
