Joachim Krause (writer)

Joachim Krause (* 1946 in Ehrenhain near Nobitz ) is a German chemist , theologian and non-fiction author .

Life

The father, Christian Krause, born in Meerane in 1914 , was a Protestant pastor and married Margarete Liebelt, born in 1915 in Ehrenhain , in April 1943 ( war wedding ). Joachim Krause was born in the Soviet zone of occupation in 1946 and from 1953 spent his “village childhood” in Schönberg near Meerane. After graduating from high school in Meerane, he studied chemistry at the Technical University of Dresden from 1965 , which he completed in 1970 as a graduate chemist. He then worked from 1970 to 1982 as a research assistant at the Central Office for Corrosion Protection in Dresden. At the same time he worked as a songwriter for GDR rock music groups such as Panta Rhei , Klaus-Lenz-Band , Horst-Krüger-Band and Puhdys . His last rock text was On some days' evening for the group Lift .

After 1978 he became involved in the church environmental movement in the GDR and completed a distance learning course in theology from 1979 to 1982 . In 1982 he moved with his wife and children to Schönberg, where his family had previously lived. From 1982 to 2010 he was then “Commissioner for Faith, Science and Environment” in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saxony .

Back in 2012, Joachim Krause wrote a treatise on Charles Darwin and his relationship to the Christian religion. He edited the diaries and correspondence of his parents and relatives from 1933 to the end of 1945 and published excerpts from them in 2016 under the title Stranger Parents . The translation rights for 2018, working title Onbekende Erfenis , were acquired by the Dutch publisher JM Meulenhoff . The author was awarded the Ur-Krostitzer Jahresring 2018 for the book in December 2018 .

In the monograph In Belief in God and Hitler , the author dealt with the current of German Protestantism " German Christians " from the Wieratal . For this book, Krause was awarded the 2nd prize at the Saxon State Prize for Local Research 2018 on October 26, 2018 .
