Joachim Otto von Bassewitz

Joachim Otto von Bassewitz (also: Bassewiß) (* February 8, 1686 , † March 10, 1733 ) was u. a. Holstein-Gottorpscher Privy Councilor , Chamber President and Official of Kiel.

Life

He came from the old Mecklenburg family von Bassewitz . His parents were the district administrator Philipp Cuno von Bassewitz and Catharina Oelgard von Lehsten . His first marriage was to Catharina Ilsabe von Bassewitz (1693-1717). After her death he married Adelheid Benedicte von Ahlefeldt in 1720 . She was the daughter of Benedikt von Ahlefeldt and Elisabeth von Moltke . Joachim Otto von Bassewitz had two children from his first marriage, including the later writer Sabine Elisabeth Oelgard von Bassewitz and a child from his second marriage. Only Sabine survived her father. His brother was Henning Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz .

First he was Princely Naumburg Chamberlain , then Royal Polish and Chursächsischer Chamberlain . Meanwhile envoy at the Berlin court, he later became bailiff of Bordesholm , Kiel and Neumünster . Most recently Duke Carl Friedrich von Holstein-Gottorp appointed him privy councilor and chamber president, as well as castle captain in Kiel. He was also a privy councilor to the Bishop of Lübeck in Eutin. He was the master of the Mecklenburg estates Dalwitz , Stierow , Stechow and Holz-Lübchin . Bassewitz was a knight of the St. Alexander Newsky Order .
