Philipp Cuno von Bassewitz (born July 30, 1659 in Dalwitz , † March 2, 1714 in Sprenz near Rostock) was Mecklenburg District Administrator and provisional officer of the Dobbertin Monastery .

Life

He came from the old Mecklenburg family von Bassewitz . His parents were the Mecklenburg District Administrator Henning von Bassewitz (presumably 1619–1662) and Anna Barbara Streiff von Lauenstein, widowed von Bülow .

Philipp Cuno had been married to Katharina Oelgard von Lehsten, widowed von der Kettenburg , since January 30, 1680 . Since 1713 in second marriage with nobility Christina von Vieregge widowed von Drieberg . From his first marriage he had five other children in addition to Henning Friedrich and Joachim Otto von Bassewitz , including Sibilla von Bassewitz, the mother of Joachim Ludolf , Philipp Cuno Christian and Henning Adam von Bassewitz .

As heir he owned the Mecklenburg estates of Prebberede and Dalwitz.

After studying law in Rostock and Jena, he became a deputy of the Mecklenburg knighthood in 1684. Since 1691 he was a member of the Select Committee . In 1692 he became a Princely Mecklenburg District Administrator. He used this office in particular to campaign for the rights of the Mecklenburg knighthood with “body and soul” and to consolidate their “praiseworthy heritage”. In addition, since 1691 he was assessor of the Mecklenburg Land and Court Court

In 1691, the Mecklenburg Landtag was elected with provincial confirmation as provisional for the Dobbertin monastery and its introduction in the office building. In the record book of the monastery office from 1691 his first official act in the convent of the noble women's monastery is noted. On November 6, 1691, the Reverend Virgin , Prioress Anna Sophia von Behr was elected as the head of the convent in the choir hall of the monastery church .
