Joachim Posselt

Joachim Posselt (* 2. October 1944 in Pausa / Vogtl. ) Is a former German football player, in the DDR-Oberliga for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt played. He won the GDR soccer championship with FC Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1967.

Posselt's first soccer team were the students at BSG Chemie in his Vogtland hometown of Pausa . Via Motor Süd Gera and Motor Wema Plauen , where he last played in the second-rate GDR league , the 1.78 m tall midfielder and trained fitter came to FC Karl-Marx-Stadt at the beginning of the 1965 season , where the previous midfield strategist Willy Holzmüller was (34) and Eberhard Taubert (29) were getting on in years. On the left midfield position, Posselt surprisingly became football champions with FCK in 1967. In the championship season he was used in 22 of the 26 point games and scored four goals.

1967 was also the year of international appearances in Posselt's football career. Through the championship, the FC had qualified for the European Cup. There he met the Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht in autumn , but lost in both first round matches with 1: 3 and 1: 2. Posselt only worked as a midfielder in the Karl-Marx-Städter home game. Just three days later, on September 23, 1967, he was in the GDR junior national team, with which he was also called up with midfield, and reached a 1-1 draw against Hungary in Weimar.

Despite his membership in the GDR youth squad, Posselt was drafted into the " People's Army " in November 1967, completely unusually . There he was given the opportunity to continue playing football with the Vorwärts Leipzig army sports community . After the end of his army service he played for a short time at Chemie Leipzig II and Kali Werra Tiefenort and then at the beginning of the 1971/72 season he joined the BSG Wismut Gera , for which he played in the second-rate GDR league until 1977. Although he played a major role in Gera making promotion to the league in 1977, he was accused of indiscipline after the end of the season and then excluded from the first team. Then Posselt, now almost 33 years old, moved to the new East German league Landbau Bad Langensalza . There he played as a defender until 1981, except for the 1978/79 season in the GDR league. After he was relegated with the team for the second time in 1981, he returned to Wismut Gera, where he finally ended his football career in 1982 at the age of 38. Although Posselt was soccer champion and 20 years in the men's division, he can only have 47 games in the GDR league with seven goals.

In later years Posselt, who had also trained as an engineer-economist, was active as a football coach. Most recently he coached 1. FC Gera 03 , and from 2001 to 2005 he was a coach at SV Elstertal Silbitz / Crossen .
