Joanna Pacuła (born January 2, 1957 in Tomaszów Lubelski , Poland ) is a Polish - American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Pacuła graduated from the Akademia Teatralna Theater School . Aleksandra Zelwerowicza (then Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Teatralna ) in Warsaw . From 1979 to 1981 she appeared in the Warsaw Dramatic Theater .

Her first role in a movie played Pacuła in Camouflage (1977) by Krzysztof Zanussi . She was also featured in television series.

When martial law was proclaimed in Poland on December 13, 1981 , Pacuła was in Paris . There she made friends with Roman Polański , who got her some orders as a photo model . Pictures of her have been featured on the covers of magazines such as Cosmopolitan , Harper's Bazaar and Vogue .

In 1982 Pacuła traveled to the USA , where she stayed permanently. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1984 for her role in the thriller Gorky Park (1983), in which she played alongside William Hurt , Lee Marvin and Brian Dennehy . For her leading role in the horror film The Kiss (1988) she was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1990. In the film drama Men and Lovers (1992) she took on one of the leading roles alongside Julian Sands . In the family film No Place Like Home (2001) she can be seen alongside Judge Reinhold , in the action film The Cutter (2005) she played alongside Chuck Norris .
