Joanna Szczepkowska (born May 1, 1953 in Warsaw ) is a Polish actress and author .

Life

Joanna Szczepkowska is the daughter of the actor Andrzej Szczepkowski and the granddaughter of the writer Jan Parandowski . She received her acting training at the PWST Warsaw in the early 1970s . While still a student, she made her debut in a television theater performance of Chekhov's Three Sisters , directed by Aleksander Bardini . At her side, the actresses Ewa Ziętek and Krystyna Janda also made their debut in the lead roles in this performance , both of whom took their final exams with her in 1975 at PWST.

After graduating, she got her first engagement at the Teatr Współczesny in Warsaw in 1975 . In 1976 she made her film debut in Con Amore by Jan Batory , for which she was awarded the Golden Camera of the film magazine Film for best debut. In 1981 she moved from Teatr Współczesny to Teatr Polski in Warsaw, where she was part of the ensemble until 1988. From 1988 to 1992 and since 2000 she has been a member of the Teatr Powszechny in Warsaw.

She also began a career as a writer in the late 1990s. She has published a volume of poetry, wrote a monodrama and has been a columnist in the Saturday supplement Wysokie Obcasy of Gazeta Wyborcza since 1999 . The columns appeared in Poland in several edited volumes. In 2003 the first volume was published with stories by Joanna Szczepkowska.

Joanna Szczepkowska was married to the actor Mirosław Konarowski. From this marriage she is the mother of two daughters. On May 3, 2007 she was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta (Knight's Cross).
