Joaquín María López de Andújar y Cánovas del Castillo (born September 13, 1942 in Madrid , Spain ) is a Spanish clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Getafe .

Life

Joaquín María López de Andújar y Cánovas del Castillo, grandson of the Spanish statesman Antonio Cánovas del Castillo , studied philosophy and theology at the Seminario Conciliar de Madrid and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Madrid on November 30, 1968 . Anshliessen studied law at the Complutense University in Madrid . He was vicar at the Church of Santa María la Mayor de Madrid and in 1976 became pastor of Nuestra Señora de África . In 1978 he became Archpriest of San Roque . The Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, Ángel Suquía Goicoechea, appointed him Episcopal Vicar of Vicariate V of Madrid in 1984. In 1992 he became vicar general in the new diocese of Getafe .

On 19 March 2001 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Arcavica and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Getafe. The Bishop of Getafe, Francisco José Pérez y Fernández-Golfín , ordained him episcopal on May 6th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Toledo , Cardinal Marcelo González Martín . On October 29, 2004, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Getafe. The inauguration took place on December 19 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 3, 2018.
