Jochen Pfister (* around 1983 ) is a German jazz musician (piano, organ, also Moog synthesizer ).

Live and act

Between 2003 and 2007 Pfister studied music pedagogy and jazz piano at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music with Martin Schrack and Bernhard Pichl . During his first study visit to the USA at Jazz 2007 in Amherst, he was tutored by Billy Taylor , Geri Allen and Chip Jackson and took private lessons in New York with Mark Soskin and Don Friedman . In 2007 and 2008 he completed a postgraduate course in jazz piano at the University of Music Würzburg with Tine Schneider and Armin Fuchs; he also took part in various workshops, for example with Barry Harris , Mark Turner and Ack van Rooyen . In 2008 and 2009 he was a visiting student at Queens College with George Colligan , Mark Soskin, David Berkman and Michael Philip Mossman .

Since 2006 he has been a member of various bands, such as the Jungblut jazz-pop ensemble , the touring band of Sheila Jordan or the quintet of Norbert Emminger and has performed at the Ingolstadt Jazz Days , the Nuremberg Voices Catch Festival and numerous other events. As a sideman he worked with musicians like John Marshall , Brad Leali, Don Menza and Ronnie Burrage . He can be heard on albums by Izabella Effenberg , Tr3ibhaus , Doc Knotz and Smokestack Lightnin ' .

Since 2009 he has been a lecturer in jazz piano at the University of Music in Würzburg and lecturer at the University of Music Nuremberg and other institutions.
