The Communauté de communes Touraine Ouest Val de Loire is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the region of Center-Val de Loire . The community association was founded on December 21, 2016 and comprises 28 communities. The administrative headquarters are in Cléré-les-Pins .
Historical development
The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations
With effect from January 1, 2018, the municipality of Chouzé-sur-Loire left the local association and switched to the Communauté de communes Chinon, Vienne et Loire .

geography
The association of municipalities is located on the Loire about 15 to 30 kilometers (as the crow flies) west of the city of Tours . The landscape is characterized by fields and - partly wooded - rolling hills at heights between 35 and 130 meters above sea level. d. M. The climate is largely determined by the Atlantic , about 200 kilometers away . The summer day temperatures reach maximum values of 30 to 35 ° C. On some days in winter, snow sometimes falls, but it only lasts for a short time; the temperatures rarely move in the frost range.
economy
The member communities are largely characterized by agriculture (arable farming, livestock and dairy farming) and small-scale crafts; There are no industrial companies in the region. Viticulture and wine tourism only play a subordinate role, although most of the municipalities are within the Touraine wine-growing region .
Attractions
The slightly hilly and partly wooded landscape is ideal for hiking. The only monument of supraregional cultural and historical importance is Langeais Castle . A curiosity is the Gallo-Roman grave monument ( Pile de Cinq-Mars ) by Cinq-Mars-la-Pile, about 30 meters high and made of over 100,000 bricks .
