Cinq-Mars-la-Pile is a French commune with 3566 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It is located in the Center-Val de Loire region , in the Indre-et-Loire department and belongs to the canton of Langeais in the Chinon arrondissement .
General
Cinq-Mars-la-Pile is 15 kilometers west of Tours . The community is 20.11 square kilometers and is 37 to 101 m above sea level on the Loire . The Tours – Saint-Nazaire railway and the Bourgueil -Tours section of the A85 autoroute, completed in 2006, crosses the river at this location . The French Air Force has a radar station in the municipality .

- Pile de Cinq-Mars , 30 m high Roman tower, either a funerary monument or an orientation tower for the Loire shipping, built at the end of the 2nd century from 104,000 bricks with a size of 33 × 22 cm, ornamentally decorated, with four end columns on the Corners

The French courtier Henri Coiffier de Ruzé, Marquis de Cinq-Mars , instigated a conspiracy against Richelieu and was executed in Lyon in 1642 . Alfred de Vigny processed the events into the historical novel "Cinq-Mars ou une conjuration sous Louis XIII." (1826; published in German in 1948). Even Henri Robert processed this substance. By Charles François Gounod opera "Cinq-Mars" comes (1877).
