The inhabitants are called Chaveignais .

Neighboring municipalities of Chaveignes are Champigny-sur-Veude in the north and west, La Tour-Saint-Gelin in the northeast, Courcoué in the east, Braslou in the southeast, Braye-sous-Faye in the south and Richelieu in the west and southwest.
