Luže (German Lusche ) is a small town in the Czech Republic . It is located eleven kilometers southwest of Vysoké Mýto in Eastern Bohemia on the right bank of the Novohradka river .
history
According to later tradition, the town of Luza ( Luscha ) was founded in 1250 in the immediate vicinity of a village Kamenicza , which can be traced back to the beginning of the 12th century. The first documentary evidence comes from the year 1349, when the church was assigned to the diocese of Litomysl . In 1372 Luscha was called a market. Until the middle of the 17th century, the place and the associated large estates, the rule of Luscha belonged to the Slavata of Chlum and Koschumberg . After the death of Heinrich Slavata, probably one of the sons of Wilhelm Slavata , his widow Maria Maximiliana Eva Theresia, née Hieserl von Chodau (1633–1690), took over the inheritance. In her will she bequeathed Luže to the Jesuit order . From 1690 until the abolition of the Jesuit order in 1773, the order remained the owner of the Lusche rule, which was acquired by the Thurn und Taxis from the religious fund.
On January 23, 2007 the municipality of Luže received city rights.

The town of Luže includes the districts Bělá ( Biela ), Brdo (1939–45 Bird ), Dobrkov ( Dobrkow ), Doly ( Dolly ), Domanice ( Domanitz ), Košumberk ( Koschumberg ), Rabouň ( Rabaun ), Radim , Srbce ( Srbetz ) , Voletice ( Woletitz ) and Zdislav ( Sdislau ).

- Ruins of Košumberk Castle with Castle Museum , on the southern outskirts
- Church of the Virgin Mary, donated in her will by Maria Maximiliana Eva Theresia Hieserl von Chod and built 1690–1696 by Giovanni Battista Alliprandi according to plans by Paul Ignaz Bayer . The three-dimensional decoration was created by Franz Baugut in 1699–1708 together with Jan Kostelník and Maximilian Brabenec and from 1703 to 1716 by Georg F. Patzak .
- Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers , probably in 1720, designed by Giovanni Battista Alliprandi built

Personalities
- Diviš Slavata of Chlum and Koschumberg († 1575), personality of the Moravian Brethren and rebel against Ferdinand I.
- Diviš Lacembok Slavata of Chlum and Koschumberg († 1623), Protestant and participant in the uprising of 1618, spared execution in Prague because of his serious illness. His property was confiscated and his tomb is in the Bartholomäuskirche.
- Wilhelm Slavata von Chlum and Koschumberg (1572–1652), the Catholic comes from the Hradec line and received the confiscated property of the family.
