Mark Soskin

Mark Samuel Soskin (* 12. July 1953 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American pianist and keyboardist of modern jazz and music teacher.

Live and act

Soskin studied piano from 1971 at Colorado State University and at Berklee College of Music . In 1975 he moved to San Francisco , where he played in Latin bands like Azteca (until 1978), then he was a member of Billy Cobham's band for two years , with whom he also toured internationally, and performed with Bobby McFerrin , Julian Priester , Eddie Henderson or the CBS All Stars . Between 1979 and 1992 he was a member of Sonny Rollins' band , with whom he went on tour, but was also involved in recordings of albums such as Don't Stop the Carnival , Sunny Days and G-Man . He then led his own groups, but also played in the Contempo Trio with Chip Jackson and Danny Gottlieb . He has also worked on recordings by Herbie Mann , Claudio Roditi , George Russell , Roland Vazquez , Hendrik Meurkens , Ravi Coltrane , Hans Kennel , Joe Locke and Astrud Gilberto . He was also involved in the world premiere of John Adams Ceiling / Sky and accompanied Gato Barbieri and Roseanna Vitro .

Soskin teaches at the Manhattan School of Music .
