Jodocus Hermann Joseph Zurmühlen (born October 18, 1747 in Münster ; † April 3, 1830 there ) was cathedral dean in Münster .

Life

Jodocus Hermann Joseph Zurmühlen was born as the son of the court chamber councilor and land rent master Franz Arnold Zurmühlen (1707–1795) and his wife Maria Anna Hoeter (1715–1797). His brother Johann Anton was later a court chamberlain. Adolph Heinrich, his other brother, was a canon at St. Mauritz in Munster . After visiting the Paulinum in Münster , Jodocus received the tonsure on May 27, 1763 . Pope Clement XIII. had given him the promise of the canonical at the Old Cathedral on September 28, 1764 , as soon as it became available. On April 22, 1765 he took possession of the office. After studying law in Vienna Jodocus doctorate on May 9, 1768 at the University of Harderwijk to Dr. Jur . Elector Maximilian Friedrich appointed him on January 28, 1769 as assessor at the Münster clerical court. Five years later he received the electoral appointment as commissioner of the legal department of the regional court. After Jodocus on February 27, 1768 to sub-deacon was ordained, he received on 23 March 1776, the ordination to the diaconate and the day after the ordination. He held the office of bursar at the Old Cathedral from 1774 to 1784. His appointment as head of the ecclesiastical court fell on June 3, 1793. On April 22, 1802, Jodocus became dean at the old cathedral in Münster. Because of his health problems, Bishop Ferdinand von Lüninck appointed him Episcopal Vicar on October 29, 1821 , his deputy. Pope Leo XII. awarded him on March 6, 1823 canonicate the newly founded Münster's cathedral chapter . In 1826 he became cathedral dean here . The cathedral chapter appointed him on March 24, 1825 after the death of the bishop for the period of the Sedis vacancy as vicar general. He held this position until April 4, 1826.
