Joe Holt (born October 13, 1997 in Swansea ) is a British cyclist.

Athletic career

As a boy, Joe Holt was a keen footballer , but also cycled a lot as his father was a cyclist. In 2010, at the age of twelve, he started cycling in earnest - a scene with Andy Schleck at the 2015 Tour de France that Holt saw on television was decisive for his decision .

In 2011 and 2012 Holt won a total of three Welsh titles on road and rail. In 2013 he was inducted into the Great Britain Olympic Talent Team . In the same year he started at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Brașov . He acted as captain of the British team; in the street race he finished eighth. In 2014 he won the Hoy Future Stars series in the Revolution competition .

Also in 2014, Holt won silver in the team pursuit at the European Junior Track Championships (with Matthew Gibson , Joe Evans and Gabriel Cullaigh ) and, together with Joe Evans, bronze in the two-man team driving . The British four-man made up of Matthew Bostock , Oliver Wood and Mark Stewart won the bronze medal at the U23 European Championships in 2016 . In 2017 (with Bostock, Ethan Hayter and Matthew Walls ) and 2018 he was the U23 European team pursuit champion (with Bostock, Fred Wright and Walls).

Honors

In 2013, Holt was named Carmarthenshire Young Sportsman of the Year 2013 .
