Joel Whist

Joel Whist (* 20th century ) is a special effects artist .

Life

Whist began his career in the late 1980s and made his feature film debut as the uncredited special effects assistant on Roger Spottiswoode's thriller Murderous Head Start . A few more films followed as an assistant; around the turn of the millennium he also worked occasionally for television, including a double episode of the series Monk . His work includes more than 60 productions. Between 2010 and 2018 he was nominated three times for the Saturn Award , but could not win it.

2018 he was for Matt Reeves ' Planet of the Apes Survival together with Joe Letteri , Daniel Barrett and Dan Lemmon for the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects nominated, but the award this year went to the science fiction film Blade Runner 2049 . Whist also missed out in the Best Visual Effects category at BAFTA Film Awards .
