Joseph Michael "Joey" Richter (born July 31, 1989 in Laguna Niguel , California ) is an American actor and singer . He became known from 2009 as a leading actor in several musicals by the StarKid Productions theater group . Since then, he has appeared in several television series and theater productions.

Career

Richter grew up in Laguna Niguel , California . His first role was as Ron Weasley in StarKid's well-known fan parody A Very Potter Musical . He took on this leading role again in 2010 and 2012 in A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year . He always played alongside Glee star Darren Criss as Harry Potter . He starred in four other StarKid musicals, including a 2009 fictionalized version of himself in Me And My Dick , Bug in Starship (2011), McDoon and others in The Trail to Oregon! and Grunt in Firebringer . He went on two North American tours with StarKid, namely in 2011 in The SPACE Tour and 2012 in Apocalyptour . Most of StarKids' musicals have been published on YouTube .

In 2010, Joey Richter starred in the independent short film Camp Chapel . From 2011 to 2012, he played with StarKid colleague Joe Walker in the YouTube - web series Tasty tests with to Red Vines , a candy made of red licorice to apply. In 2012 he was in a speaking role in the South African animated film Khumba - The Zebra without Stripes on the Bottom and got a recurring role in the sitcom Jessie , which he played four times until 2013. Richter had originally auditioned for the lead role of Tony , but was turned down. However, the director's daughter, who was a fan of StarKid, convinced him to cast him as Officer Petey .

In 2013 and 2014, Richter had cameo appearances in Glee (episode 4x11) and The Legend of Korra (episode 3x08). He gained fame on the internet through his StarKid roles and appearances in internet productions such as School of Thrones (2013), I Ship It (2014) and Muzzled the Musical (2015). From 2015 to 2016, Joey Richter played the recurring role of Time Jerker in three episodes on the superhero sitcom Henry Danger . Also in 2015, he starred in a pilot episode of the Nickelodeon series Genie in a Bikini . In 2016 Richter was seen together with other StarKids in Los Angeles in the musical Spies Are Forever by the Tin Can Brothers (consisting of Richter, Brian Rosenthal and Corey Lubowich). He also played Ernest Hemingway in all eleven episodes of the well-known Youtube series Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party , which was almost exclusively filled with well-known Internet actors. In 2017 he took on several vocal roles in the video game Horizon Zero Dawn and the expansion The Frozen Wilds .

In 2011, Richter graduated from the University of Michigan , where StarKid was founded. In the meantime, he lived with both Darren Criss and Brian Rosenthal, both of whom were also members of StarKid.
