Darren Criss
Darren Everett Criss (born February 5, 1987 in San Francisco , California ) is an American actor , singer and songwriter. He is best known for his role as "Blaine Anderson" in the television series Glee . He is also co-founder and co-owner of the theater group Team StarKid , for which he writes many songs and is an actor himself.
Criss was awarded in 2018 for his role as serial killer Andrew Cunanan in the series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story the Emmy Award as best actor in a miniseries or TV movie and 2019, the Golden Globe Award as Best Actor - Miniseries or TV movie .
Life
Darren Criss was born on February 5, 1987 in San Francisco , California. His mother is Filipina and his father is of Irish descent.
Darren learned to play guitar , piano , drums and violin as a child . At age 10 he was inducted into the American Conservatory Theater and also made his acting debut at the 42nd Street Moon Theater Company in the play Fanny . He played drums in a small band with his brother Chuck (who is now a member of the indie rock band Freelance Whales ) before he began studying at the University of Michigan . In 2009 he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts . In February 2019, Criss married his longtime girlfriend.
Career
StarKid Productions
Criss is part of the Team StarKid theater company formed by acting students at the University of Michigan . His most popular role with StarKid was that of Harry Potter in A Very Potter Musical (2009), A Very Potter Sequel (2010) and A Very Potter Senior Year (2013). The productions are based on the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling . Criss wrote half the songs for the first musical and all the songs for the second musical. Criss also composed all of the songs for StarShip (February 2011); he himself had no speaking role and was only seen briefly.

Since the second season he played in the American musical television series Glee the role of "Blaine Anderson", a student of the Dalton Academy, who first befriends "Kurt Hummel" and later in the season falls into a love affair with him. Several of his cover versions topped the iTunes charts in the US. For the 6th season he wrote the songs Rise and This Time ; the latter was nominated for an Emmy Award .
In 2011, Criss appeared in the extended version of Katy Perry's music video Last Friday Night as "Aaron Christopherson". He's also featured in Capital Cities music videos ( Kangaroo Court , I Sold My Bed, But Not My Stereo ) and A Great Big World ( Already Home ).
After Glee ended in 2015, she appeared in episodes in American Horror Story (2015) and in the Supergirl Flash crossover as the Music Meister (2017).
2018 he reunited with Ryan Murphy together and played in the second season of American Crime Story starring the serial killer Andrew Cunanan and was for this role with the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie and a Golden Globe Award awarded .

2012 Darren Criss played a starring role in the comedy Girl Most Likely alongside Kristen Wiig , Annette Bening and Matt Dillon . In 2015 he directed the film Smitten with Barry Morrow ! at the side of Mădălina Diana Ghenea , who has not yet been shown in cinemas.
Broadway
In January 2012 he made his Broadway debut as "J. Pierrepont Finch ”in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying . From April 29, 2015 to July 19, 2015, he was seen in the title role of the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch again on Broadway.
Elsie Fest
Together with Ricky Rollins, Darren Criss has been organizing the Elsie Fest, an outdoor event for musical lovers that takes place every summer in New York, since 2015. Different artists with Broadway connections perform each year.
