Johann Andreas Geismer

Johann Andreas Geismer (born October 13, 1695 in Eldena ; † September 27, 1759 in Billwerder ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman .

Life

Born in Eldena, Geismer attended the Academic High School in Hamburg from 1710 , then studied theology at the University of Rostock and in 1719 became a candidate for the Hamburg Ministry . On June 11, 1727, he became ship preacher on the Hamburg convoy ships . On January 21, 1733 he was elected as adjunct to Pastor Nikolaus Lütkens (1675-1736) to Sankt Nikolai in Billwerder and confirmed as such after his death on March 25, 1736 as pastor. Geismer was pastor during the laying of the foundation stone in 1737 and inauguration of the new St. Nikolai Church in 1739. He died in 1759 at the age of 63. He was succeeded by Peter Brameyer (1718–1790).

family

Geismer was the son of the pastor at the monastery church in Eldena Michael Geismer († 1712) and his wife Anna Dorothea Wetzstein († 1716). In 1733 he married Elisabeth Alardus, daughter of the pastor at Hamburg Cathedral , Nikolaus Alardus (1683–1756). After her death, he married for the second time in 1747 with Cornelia Margaretha Moller, daughter of Hamburg's senior secretary and senator Hartwig Johann Moller (1677–1732).
