Johann Baptist Edmund Dähler (born July 3, 1847 in Appenzell ; † January 7, 1927 there , Catholic , entitled to live in Appenzell) was a Swiss politician ( Catholic Conservative ).

Life

Johann Baptist Edmund Dähler was born on July 3, 1847 in Appenzell as the son of the privateer and conservative politician Johann Baptist Dähler . Dähler completed a commercial training in Lausanne . He then worked as an accountant and lawyer in Appenzell. Between 1877 and 1883 he was also employed as civil registry officer and district commander. After all, he was employed as a state archivist from 1890 to 1902 .

Dähler also acted as one of the co-founders of the Appenzell-Innerrhodische Kantonalbank. He was married to Mathilde, the daughter of the church clerk Johann Fortunat Bischofberger. Johann Baptist Edmund Dähler died on January 7, 1927 at the age of 79 in Appenzell. His son Edmund was also politically active for the Conservatives.

Political career

Dähler first worked as a canton judge between 1882 and 1883. Subsequently, he officiated in the professional ethics committee from 1883 to 1887 as Innerrhoder regional bag master , then from 1890 to 1897 as education director. He was also head of the government between 1887 and 1923 as Landammann . In addition, he represented his party in the National Council after the parliamentary elections from 1890 to 1895 . Subsequently, Dähler was represented in the Council of States between 1895 and 1920 , after he had prevailed in an election against his party colleague Joseph Albert Hautle .
